Families enjoyed delicious traditional foods and participated in engaging activities designed to bring our community closer. The children had a wonderful time playing games that fostered teamwork and camaraderie. EID UL FITR CELEBRATION
SUNDAY APRIL 14th, 2024
Alhumdulillah, the Alkhairia Islamic Center hosted our annual Sunday School Eid ul-Fitr Celebration. It was a day filled with gratitude as we remembered Allah SWT and celebrated together as a community with food, a scavenger hunt, and outdoor games.
In Surah Aal-e-Imran, Allah SWT emphasizes the importance of holding firmly together the rope of Allah SWT’s guidance as a unified community, for it is through unity that we find strength in our journey towards Him and His beloved Rasool ﷺ. In Islam, community is a key factor in the productive growth of society. We are honored to have a growing community at the Alkhairia Islamic Center.
The event began with the recitation of the Quran, the Names of Allah, and various Kalimas and Duas. Thauban Mohammad, age 7, expressed his feelings about Ramadan and his fasting experience. Muhammad Anziq, age 6, spoke about the two Angels on our right and left shoulders. These two young students have demonstrated a deep connection to Sunday School and continuously share their knowledge and love for their religion with the rest of the community. Additionally, students were presented with an award in recognition of keeping their First Fast in Ramadan. May Allah SWT continue to grow us all in our deen, Ameen!
The main highlight of the celebration for many students and families was the adventurous scavenger hunt. Through different riddles, students and teachers discussed the names of Allah SWT in relation to every day objects. Mujtaba Alkhairi, age 15, shared that his favorite riddle led his team to a flower where they learned Allah’s name Al Hayy, The All Living. The students discussed how Allah SWT is the source of all life, just like how the roots of a plant draw nourishment from the soil to sustain its growth. A plant's life begins with a tiny seed bursting with potential, much like how Allah SWT's creation springs forth from His divine will.
The Sunday School team at Alkhairia Islamic Center expresses endless gratitude to all those who participated and contributed to a successful event. We remain steadfast in our commitment to creating a community wherein parents, teachers, and students come together to learn more about Islam and grow in every aspect of our lives. Our growth thus far is a testament to the prayers and support of our community members and spiritual teachers.
May Allah SWT create more opportunities for unity, joy, and spiritual growth, Ameen!
"I really enjoy doing scavenger hunts, riddles, and looking for clues, and what made it even more engaging was connecting all the clues with Allah’s names. It is beautiful to make connections with the simple things in our lives to Allah’s names which we might not do on a regular basis."
Rafeya Khan, age 16
"My most favorite part of the scavenger hunt was when we had to put together the puzzle at the end, even though it might have been stressful at the moment, that's where the real competition was. And also when we learned more about Allah SWTs names at every clue."
Maheen Fatima, age 13
